Custom Foot Orthotics

An orthotic refers to any device that can be inserted into a shoe. Materials can range from vinyl, leather or neoprene with your custom-made inserts that are designed specifically for you. They may help correct a biomechanical dysfunction, abnormal walking pattern or foot deformity. This can decrease stresses in certain structures of your foot and lower extremity. Orthotics often called arch supports or shoe inserts, are very similar to eyeglasses, some people only require a low prescription you can purchase over the counter at the drug store, some people only need sunglasses purely for comfort, while others need a specialist to design a custom pair with their specific prescription. While glasses allow you to see properly, orthotics may allow your foot and ankle to be properly supported as it holds your weight while you stand, walk, run, squat and jump. An assessment will be performed to determine if a custom foot orthotic is for you. It may be time to have the mechanics of your feet, your main source of transportation assessed.

At Baden Integrative Health Dr. Plante can assist you in determining whether you could benefit from any sort of orthotic device. Chiropractors are trained to assess the biomechanics of the lower limb and foot and determine what type of device if any is required.
